Primary trust schools

“Trust status is providing us with committed long-term partners who are helping us to sustain and build on the successes of the school especially in relation to our core values. For example we are “closing the gap in the provision of effective family support and support for the emotional welfare of our pupils and community through the provision of a worker from one of our partners, Barnardos. We are continuing to develop our outstanding progress in learning especially through bespoke training for staff and expanding our work with the local community such as developing on-site allotments”.

Richard Barnard, Chair of Governors Robinswood Primary School, Gloucs

Gaining trust status brings many benefits and significant opportunities for primary schools including additional skills, knowledge and expertise of partners, and long term sustainable collaboration.

Primary schools today face a variety of challenges including: capacity to take on initiatives, and limited experience of managing finance.

Trust & foundation status provides opportunities to:

  • Work with partners to achieve the school's long term vision
  • Make cost efficiencies and effectively share resources
  • Develop creativity and innovation building on partner expertise
  • Plan strategically and become masters of your own destiny
  • Gain charity status by applying for grants and the use of Gift Aid as a fund raiser
  • Enhance skills of the school's governing body
  • Take the opportunity to deliver community cohesion and Every Child Matters
